The company's message says that this decision is necessary, since the head office of Deribit has jurisdiction in the Netherlands and, therefore, EU sanctions apply to them. The company stressed that they remain open to Russians living in the EU, but no exceptions have been made for Russian companies.
Deribit is the leading platform for trading cryptocurrency options. It was one of the most sought-after trading platforms among Russian citizens. In 2024, according to RBC, the share of trading operations carried out from Russia on the Deribit platform was 8%.
